Ingredients

  • 500 g - Apple
  • 2 cup - fresh Cream
  • 8 slices bread (2 days old)
  • 4 tbsp - Sugar or to taste
  • 2 tbsp - Lime juice
  • 1/2 tsp - mixed spice powder (cinnamon, Cloves and nutmeg)
  • 3 tbsp - Butter
  • 3 tbsp - Sugar
  • 2 tbsp - icing Sugar
  • 1 tbsp - Orange rind

How to Make Apple Betty

  • Peel, core and slice the apples.
  • Add sugar and 1/4 cup of water.
  • Simmer till the apples are soft.
  • Add lime juice and mixed spice powder. Leave aside to cool.
  • Break the bread into tiny crumbs.
  • Melt the butter. Add bread and sugar.
  • Cook and stir all the time till the bread turns golden brown. Leave aside to cool.
  • Whip the cream with icing sugar.
  • Place half the bread mixture in a pudding bowl.
  • Top with half the apple mixture.
  • Spread with 1/2 the cream.
  • Repeat the layers.
  • Sprinkle orange rind on top. Serve chilled.
