  • 2 cups - rice flour (heaped, 350 gms )
  • salt to taste
  • 2.5 cups - water
  • 4 tbsp - ghee

How to Make Arisi maavu roti

  • Heat water with salt to taste in a heavy bottomed vessel.
  • Once it boils, reduce the heat and pour the rice flour as one lump in the centre of the boiling water.
  • Insert a ladle in the middle, close with a lid and cook on a reduced flame for 5 minutes.
  • Remove from fire and mix quickly with the ladle.
  • Make a smooth dough by wetting your hands in water, as the dough will be hot.
  • Make small tomato-sized balls and roll out flat thin chapattis using rice flour powder.
  • Heat a tawa, place the roti, wait for 20 seconds and turn over, wait for another 20 seconds then turn over again. The roti will puff.
  • Remove and apply ghee lightly on one side.
  • Do the same with all the rice flour balls.
  • Serve hot with any non veg or veg gravy.
