Ingredients

  • Rice - 1 cup
  • Toor Dal - 1 cup
  • Tomato - 1, diced
  • Onion - 1, diced
  • Garlic - 5 big pieces, diced
  • Carrot and Potato - 1 each, diced
  • Dried red chilli - 2
  • Red chill powder - to taste
  • Mustard Seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Cumin -1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • Curry leaves - a few
  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • How to Make Arisium Paruppu:

    1. Heat oil in a cooker.
    2. Allow mustard to splutter.
    3. Add cumin seeds, curry leaves, red chillies, onion, garlic and tomatoes.
    4. Fry for a few seconds, add rice, dal, vegetables, turmeric chilli powder, salt and 5.5 cups of water.
    5. Adjust salt and chilli powder.
    6. Pressure cook for 4 whistles.
    7. Serve hot.
