Ingredients

  • 1 cup - green gram dal
  • 2 cups - Sugar
  • 1 cup - Ghee
  • 1 cup - Milk
  • 1 tbsp - all-purpose flour, golden fried in Ghee
  • 10 - cashew nuts, golden fried in Ghee
  • 1 pinch - Nutmeg
  • How to Make Ashoka Halva:

    1. Pressure cook the dal in 1 cup milk and 1 cup water.
    2. Cool it. Mash the dal.
    3. In a tawa, put sugar with a little water.
    4. Cook till 2-thread consistency.
    5. Add the mashed dal and stir continuously.
    6. Add ghee while stirring.
    7. When it becomes like dough (i.e. it doesn't stick to the vessel), add the fried flour, fried cashew nuts and a pinch of nutmeg powder.
    8. Put on a greased plate and cut into pieces.
