Ingredients

  • 1 cup - green gram dal
  • 2 cups - sugar
  • 1 cup - ghee
  • 1 cup - milk
  • 1 tbsp - all-purpose flour, golden fried in ghee
  • 10 - cashew nuts, golden fried in ghee
  • 1 pinch - nutmeg

How to Make Ashoka Halva

  • Pressure cook the dal in 1 cup milk and 1 cup water.
  • Cool it. Mash the dal.
  • In a tawa, put sugar with a little water.
  • Cook till 2-thread consistency.
  • Add the mashed dal and stir continuously.
  • Add ghee while stirring.
  • When it becomes like dough (i.e. it doesn't stick to the vessel), add the fried flour, fried cashew nuts and a pinch of nutmeg powder.
  • Put on a greased plate and cut into pieces.
