Ingredients

  • 125 g - Avalakki
  • 4 - Green chillies
  • A handful - Peanuts
  • Freshly chopped - Coriander leaves
  • A few - Curry leaves
  • 1 cup - grated fresh Coconut
  • 1 tbsp - Channa dal
  • 1 tbsp - Urad Dal
  • Lime - 1/2
  • 1 tbsp - mustard
  • 1 - onion, finely chopped
  • How to Make Avalakki Oggrane:

    1. Heat a kadai with 2 - 3 tbsp of oil, splutter mustard and add channa dal, urad dal.
    2. When the dal turns golden brown, add peanuts.
    3. Add chopped green chillies, coriander leaves , a pinch of turmeric powder and onions and fry.
    4. In a separate vessel, wash the beaten rice well, and drain the water.
    5. Add salt and enough water to soak for 2-3 mins.
    6. Squeeze to drain out water completely and put the aval into the pan. Mix well.
    7. Add lime juice and grated coconut.
    8. Close the pan with a lid and turn off the fire after a minute.
    9. Serve.
