Ingredients

  • sooji - 1cup
  • ghee - 3/4 cup
  • sugar - 1.5 cups
  • water - 3 cups
  • bananas - 1,medium size
  • kesar powder or orange food coloring
  • kaju and kishmish to garnish
  • 1/2 tsp - elaichi powder

How to Make Banana Kesari

  • Heat a kadhai and add ghee. Add kaju, kishmish and sooji and fry well till golden brown. In a separate vessel, heat water to boiling point. Add sugar and banana and mix till bananas are mashed nicely.
  • Add saffron powder and elaichi powder.
  • Add this banana and sugar mix slowly to the frying sooji and keep stirring constantly.
  • Add the water completely and mix. It may look watery but the sooji will absorb the water and ghee will float on top.
  • Remove and serve hot. Milk can be added in place of water to make it more rich, or a mixture of water and milk can also be added.
  • Pine apples can be added in place of banana to make it pineapple sheera.
