Ingredients

  • For the kofta
  • Raw banana - 2
  • 1/2 - onion
  • Pepper-1 tsp
  • Green chillies - 4
  • Coriander leaves - 3-4 sprigs
  • Ginger -1/2 inch
  • Salt to taste
  • For the gravy:
  • Onions - 2
  • Tomatoes - 2
  • Coriander leaves-2 tsps
  • Honey - 1 tsp
  • Mace powder - a pinch
  • Red chilli powder - 1.5 tsps
  • Cream - 3 tsp
  • Butter - 1.5 tsp
  • Cardamoms, cinnamons and cloves
  • Garlic ginger paste-2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Banana Kofta

  • Boil raw banana in enough water for 30 minutes. Cool, peel and mash.
  • Add salt, ginger, coriander, green chillies, pepper and finely chopped onions.
  • Make small balls.
  • Deep fry in a kadai on low heat till golden brown. Keep aside.
  • In a kadai, pour 4 tbsps of oil and crackle cardamoms, cloves and cinnamon. Add the finely chopped onions and saute till transparent.
  • Add garlic ginger paste and saute till onions turn brown.
  • Make a puree of tomato in a blender and add it to the kadai along with red chilli powder and salt. Cook till oil surfaces.
  • Add cream and butter. Remove from flame and add honey..
  • Arrange Koftas in an oven proof casserole, pour gravy and sprinkle with mace powder. Cover and seal dish.
  • Place dish in a preheated oven at 275 degree F for 10 minutes.
  • Sprinkle finely chopped coriander leaves and serve.
