  • 1 tbsp - oil
  • 2 - onions, finely chopped
  • 8 - dried red chillies
  • 1 tbsp - water
  • 1/2 tsp - thick tamarind paste
  • 4 - potatoes, boiled
  • 3/4 tsp - salt
  • 1/4 cup - extra water

How to Make Batata Song (Potato Song)

  • In a mixer bowl, soak dried red chillies with tamarind paste and 1 tbsp of water for half an hour and make a smooth paste.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add finely chopped onion and fry it till it is pink in colour.
  • Add red chilli and tamarind paste and mix it well. Stir it on low heat for 2 minutes.
  • Add separately boiled potatoes, salt and an extra 1/4 cup of water. Cover it with a tight lid and cook on low heat for 10 - 12 minutes until the gravy thickens and the potatoes are well coated.
  • Serve it with rice.
