  • 1 cup - White Peas (dried variety)
  • 5 tbsp - Raw Mango (grated or chopped lengthwise)
  • 3 tbsp - Coconut
  • 2 tbsp - Onion (chopped finely)
  • 2 tsp - Coriander leaves (chopped finely)
  • 1 tsp - Red Chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • To temper:
  • 1 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • A generous pinch - Hing
  • 1 tsp - Oil

How to Make Beach Sundal

  • Soak peas overnight or at least for 8 hours.
  • Pressure cook them for 3 whistles and set aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, allow them to crackle, then add hing.
  • Add onion and give a stir (no need to saute), then add cooked peas immediately.
  • Add red chilli powder and salt and give a stir.
  • Add raw mango and coconut and mix till they are blended well.
  • Then add chopped coriander leaves and switch off the flame.
  • Serve hot. Add raw mango and onion while serving.
