Ingredients

  • 1 cup - White Peas (dried variety)
  • 5 tbsp - Raw Mango (grated or chopped lengthwise)
  • 3 tbsp - Coconut
  • 2 tbsp - Onion (chopped finely)
  • 2 tsp - Coriander leaves (chopped finely)
  • 1 tsp - Red Chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • To temper:
  • 1 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • A generous pinch - Hing
  • 1 tsp - Oil
  • How to Make Beach Sundal:

    1. Soak peas overnight or at least for 8 hours.
    2. Pressure cook them for 3 whistles and set aside.
    3. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, allow them to crackle, then add hing.
    4. Add onion and give a stir (no need to saute), then add cooked peas immediately.
    5. Add red chilli powder and salt and give a stir.
    6. Add raw mango and coconut and mix till they are blended well.
    7. Then add chopped coriander leaves and switch off the flame.
    8. Serve hot. Add raw mango and onion while serving.
