Ingredients

  • 1 lb - Beef pieces, medium pieces
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 cup - carrots, medium pieces
  • 1/2 cup - chopped Tomatoes
  • 2 - Dried red chillies
  • 2-3- Bay Leaves
  • 1 inch - Cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 tsp -peppercorns
  • 1/2 tsp - cumin powder
  • 1 cube - chicken/beef stock
  • 1/4 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp - any curry powder of your choice
  • 3-4 Cloves - garlic, crushed
  • 2 tbsp - Vinegar
  • 3 tbsp - Olive oil
  • 1 cup water
  • How to Make Beef And Carrot Stew:

    1. Heat the oil in a pressure cooker and fry the onions to pink.
    2. Add the whole spices - red chillies, bay leaves, cinnamon, garlic and peppercorns. Fry well.
    3. Add the spice powders and stock cube and fry well.
    4. Add 1-2 tbsp water to prevent it from burning at the base.
    5. Add the tomatoes and cook for 1 minute.
    6. Add the beef pieces and cook on high flame, tossing them around, for 2-3 minutes till evenly browned.
    7. Add vinegar and salt along with the water and pressure cook - 1 whistle on high flame - and simmer for 30 minutes.
    8. When the steam escapes, open and add the carrots.
    9. Pressure cook for another 10 minutes.
    10. Serve with bread, croutons, bread sticks or soup crackers.
