Ingredients

  • Step 1:
  • Beef - 1kg
  • Chilli Powder – 1tbsp
  • Coriander Powder – 1 tsp
  • Cumin (Zeera) Powder – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Ginger – 2 inch root
  • Garlic – 10 cloves
  • Pepper Powder – 4 tbsp
  • Curry Leaves – 3 sprigs
  • Step 2:
  • Shallots/Kunjulli/Shallots/Pearl Onions - 500 gms
  • Coconut Oil – 3 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry Leaves – 1 sprig

How to Make Beef Liver Fry (Karal Varuthathu)

  • Wash and clean, Liver, cut into small bite size peices (about 1×1 inch size)
  • Crush Ginger and Garlic.
  • Take all ingredients in step 1, mix well, cook on medium flame for cover an cook for 40 mins. (If you prefer you can use a pressure cooker, for a max of 20 minutes, without weight/whistle on it, or a pan with tight fitting lid is enough.)
  • In another non stick pan heat Coconut Oil, add the finely chopped Shallots and sauté for 5 minutes on medium flame.
  • Add the cooked Beef Liver, Curry Leaves and Salt to taste and stir for another 10 minutes on low flame till to get a nice blackish colour.
  • Serve hot with home made Ghee sprinkled on brown Rice and Pappadam.
