  • 3 cups - water (for boiling)
  • 500 gms - Beef mince (wash and boil)
  • 4 - medium Potatoes (boiled and peeled)
  • 1/2 tsp - Mustard Seed (broil on tawa)
  • 12 - Kashmir chillies (remove stems and broil)
  • 1/2 tsp - Jeera (broil on tawa and grind)
  • 1 tbsp - coriander (broil on tawa and grind)
  • 1 - onion, sliced (broil on tawa and grind)
  • 3 flakes/cloves - Garlic (broil on tawa and grind)
  • 10 - pepper Corns (broil on tawa and grind)
  • 1/2 - coconut, scraped (broil on tawa and grind)
  • 1 inch - Turmeric (broil on tawa and grind)
  • 1 ball - Tamarind (remove seeds and fiber and grind)
  • Salt - to taste
  • 5 - medium chillies (green stems removed - for grind)
  • 1 tsp - Garam Masala (to be added to ground masala)
  • 3 tbsp - Ghee
  • 2 cups - Masoor Dal (boil and add to meat)
  • 1 tbsp - oil (for frying sliced onion)
  • 1/2 - Onion (make slices for seasoning)
  • How to Make Beef Mince Curry With Dhal:

    1. Wash and parboil half a kilogram of beef mince, and when cooked drain the water and keep aside.
    2. Boil 4 medium potatoes - water level should be a little above the potatoes.
    3. When done, peel the skins and slice into degree cubes and keep aside.
    4. Broil separately on a tawa each masala, scraped coconut and sliced onion except tamarind.
    5. Grind all the masala to a fine paste. Keep aside.
    6. Pour three tbsp of ghee in a cooking pot, and heat it.
    7. Slice one onion and brown it in the hot ghee.
    8. Then add the parboiled minced beef. Cook the meat in its own gravy till browned, in the covered pot.
    9. Then add 2-3 cups of boiling water and 2 cups masoor dal previously washed.
    10. When the meat and dal are cooked well, add the ground masala.
    11. With a little water to the meat, if the level has gone below. Always the liquid should be a little above the main stuff.
    12. Heat the oil for seasoning in a large enough pan, and fry half sliced onion.
    13. Pour the meat with its gravy into the seasoning and cook.
    14. Add diced potatoes and salt to taste.
