Ingredients

  • Beetroot - 2
  • Moong dal - 2 tbsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • Water - as needed
  • Red Chilli powder- 1.5 tsp
  • To grind: Grated Coconut - 3 tbsp
  • Small Onion - a few
  • Cumin - 1/4 tsp
  • To temper: Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Urad Dal - 1/2 tsp
  • Big Onion - 1
  • Curry leaves - few
  • How to Make Beetroot Poriyal:

    1. Chop the beetroot into small pieces and pressure cook along with moong dal, red chilli powder, salt and water.
    2. Now grind the ingredients into a smooth paste, adding a little water.
    3. Splutter mustard seeds in oil in a pan and add the cooked beetroot mixture. Then add the ground coconut paste, saute well and cook.
