Ingredients

  • 1 cup - rajma (kidney beans)
  • 1/2 cup - onion, minced
  • 1/2 cup - tomato puree
  • 3 tbsp - coriander leaves, chopped
  • 2 tbsp - oil
  • 2 tsp - garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp - ginger, minced
  • 1 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp - garam masala powder
  • 1 tsp - sugar
  • salt to taste

How to Make Beginners Rajma

  • Soak rajma in water overnight.
  • Drain and add just enough water to cover and pressure cook till soft.
  • Mash it lightly.
  • Heat the oil in a kadai.
  • Fry onion, garlic and ginger till fragrant.
  • Add all the powders, fry for few seconds.
  • Add tomato puree, rajma, salt and sugar.
  • Simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Add coriander leaves, mix and remove from fire.
