Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken
  • 3 onions
  • 2 tomatoes
  • chicken masala powder (any brand) - as desired.
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • oil as required for frying and sauting
  • salt to taste
  • coriander leaves for garnishing

How to Make Bhuna Masala Chicken

  • Cut the chicken into small pieces and marinate them with chicken masala powder, salt and lemon juice.
  • Allow them to sit for an hour or so.
  • After an hour, fry the marinated chicken pieces till brown.
  • Chop onions and tomatoes finely.
  • Saute chopped onions with oil in a kadai till light brown in colour.
  • Add tomatoes to it.
  • After few minutes, add chicken masala powder and salt to it.
  • Once the onion and tomatoes mixture turns brown , add water as desired and let it boil.
  • Add the fried chicken pieces to the onion and tomato mixture and allow the water to simmer.
  • Wait till the water evaporates to form a thick gravy and remove it from the heat.
  • If you woud like the chicken to be dry, allow water to evaporate fully.
  • Garnish the chicken fry with coriander (cilantro) leaves.
  • Goes well with chappati and rice.
