Ingredients

  • Milk powder - 1 cup
  • Khoya - 1 cup
  • Sugar - 1 cup
  • Cooking oil - 3 tbsp
  • Water - 1 cup

How to Make Bhunna Mava

  • Add the milk powder to a mixing bowl and pour the cooking oil slowly, all the while mixing with your fingertips to get a mixture that resembles bread crumbs.
  • Next, add the evaporated milk till you get a crumbly mixture. Keep aside.
  • Mix the sugar and water in a pan, add the elaichi seeds and boil till you get a one string consistency.
  • Add in the milk powder mixture slowly, stirring all the time over a medium fire. (Do not break up the crumbs as they give it the mava texture.)
  • When the oil starts coming out and the mixture leaves the sides of the pan, turn off the fire.
  • Pour into a greased oven proof tray and bake at 300 degrees till the top becomes browned slightly (about 10 to 15 minutes).
  • Take it out of the oven and let it cool for about half an hour.
  • Cut it into desired shapes and decorate with silver vark (optional).
