  • Mocchakottai - 1/4 kg
  • Pumpkin (cut into medium pieces) - 1/2 kg
  • Sambar powder - 3 tsp
  • For grinding:
  • Coconut powder - 7 -8 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1.5 tsp
  • Red chillies - 5 -6

How to Make Black eyed beans or mocchakottai kootu

  • Boil mocchakottai in water. When it's done, keep it aside.
  • Cook pumpkin in little water with some salt and keep it aside.
  • Now, grind the coconut, cumin seeds and chillies with some water into a fine paste.
  • Add this mixture to the mocchakotai and pumpkin. Then add sambar powder to it.
  • Add salt as well. Mix everything together.
