How to Make Black-Eyed Beans Vada (Babbarla Vada)

  • Soak the beans in water for 4 to 5 hours. After they have soaked well, grind them coarsely by adding a little water.
  • Remove into a bowl and add chopped onion, chopped chillies, chopped mint and coriander leaves, turmeric, asafoetida and salt.
  • Mix well and leave it to settle for a while.
  • Meanwhile heat the oil in a wok or a pan.
  • Take a little of the mixture, shape into a ball or press like a vada and drop it into hot oil. Remove when it turns golden brown.
  • Serve with chilli sauce or ketchup.
