Ingredients

  • Black-Eyed Beans - 2 cups
  • Green chillies - 3-4
  • Chopped Onion - 1
  • Mint and Coriander leaves
  • Turmeric - 2 tsp
  • Asafoetida Powder - a pinch
  • Salt according to your taste
  • Oil for frying
  • How to Make Black-Eyed Beans Vada (Babbarla Vada):

    1. Soak the beans in water for 4 to 5 hours. After they have soaked well, grind them coarsely by adding a little water.
    2. Remove into a bowl and add chopped onion, chopped chillies, chopped mint and coriander leaves, turmeric, asafoetida and salt.
    3. Mix well and leave it to settle for a while.
    4. Meanwhile heat the oil in a wok or a pan.
    5. Take a little of the mixture, shape into a ball or press like a vada and drop it into hot oil. Remove when it turns golden brown.
    6. Serve with chilli sauce or ketchup.
