  • 4 - bread slices (square sandwich type)
  • 2 cups - plain Yoghurt
  • 1 tsp - grated Ginger
  • 2 - green chilli, cut into small pieces
  • 2/3 - spring onions, chopped
  • 2 tbsp - green chutney (made with coriander leaves, garlic, Cumin seeds and salt to taste)
  • A few chopped Coriander leaves
  • 1/2 tsp - Mustard Seed
  • 1/4 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp - Butter
  • Some Coriander leaves to garnish
  • Salt - to taste
  • How to Make Bread Dahi Dhoklas:

    1. Hang the yoghurt in a thin muslin cloth for about 6-7 hours or so, till the water drips out.
    2. Mix salt, chilli, ginger and yoghurt.
    3. Add the chopped spring onions and coriander leaves to the yoghurt and mix well.
    4. Spread the above paste evenly on 2 bread slices.
    5. On the other two slices, spread the green chutney.
    6. Cover these breads with the other 2 slices.
    7. Cut each pair in 4 square pieces.
    8. Heat a flat pan or a frying pan.
    9. Put one tsp ghee or butter on the heated pan. Sprinkle some mustard seeds.
    10. Wait till it starts cracking.
    11. Sprinkle some turmeric powder.
    12. Put the bread pieces till brown on one side.
    13. Apply some butter and sprinkle some turmeric powder on the top side of slices and turn over.
    14. Upturn the slices and take it out when the second side is brown.
    15. Garnish it with finely chopped coriander leaves.
