Ingredients

  • For Usili:
  • Toor dal - 1/2 cup
  • Chana dal - 1 tbsp
  • Red chillies - 3
  • Hing - 1 pinch
  • Salt - To taste
  • Curry leaves - 1 stick
  • For curry:
  • Broccoli - 1 bunch (cooked with salt and turmeric powder)
  • Seasoning:
  • Oil
  • Mustard - 1 tsp
  • Urad dal - 1 tsp
  • Green chillies - 1
  • Curry leaves - 1 stick

How to Make Broccoli Paruppu Usili

  • Grind the ingredients for usili into a coarse paste. Steam paste for 10 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add the seasoning.
  • When golden brown, add the cooled usili and fry on low fire until it becomes small and crispy.
  • When golden brown, add the cooked broccoli and fry for 5-10 minutes.
  • This goes well with vathal kuzhambu rice or morkuzhambu.
