  • 1 cup - split green dal
  • 1 cup - Sugar
  • 1 cup - Rice
  • 1 cup - Urad Dal
  • Oil - for deep frying
  • Salt to taste
  • How to Make Buralu:

    1. Soak the split green dal in water and wash it well after 1 hour or so.
    2. Soak both the rice and urad dal in water for 1 hour.
    3. Grind the split green dal (without water) to an idli-like consistency.
    4. Make idlis out of that batter (don't add salt).
    5. Take out the idlis, mash them and let them cool.
    6. Take a thick bottom vessel, add 1 cup of sugar, a little water and heat it.
    7. After 2 minutes, add the mashed idlis and mix well.
    8. Cook the mixture for half an hour.
    9. Now grind the rice and urad dal together in a blender, add salt to taste.
    10. Heat oil, make small balls from the dal mixture, dip them in the rice batter and deep fry.
