Ingredients

  • 1 - egg, separated
  • 2/3 cup - sugar
  • 1/2 cup - evaporated milk
  • 1 cup - flour
  • 2 tsp - baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp - salt
  • 3/4 tsp - lemon extract
  • 2 tbsp - evaporated milk
  • 1 cup - powdered sugar

How to Make Butterless cake with sugar icing

  • Put the egg yolk in a mixing bowl and beat until light.
  • Gradually add the sugar and milk while beating continuously.
  • Sift your flour, baking powder, and salt together; set aside.
  • Beat egg white until stiff; fold dry ingredients into egg white.
  • Add egg white mixture and flavouring to sugar-milk mixture, blending well.
  • Pour batter in a prepared 8-inch square pan.
  • Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 mins.
  • For icing:
  • Warm 2 tbsp evaporated milk in a small saucepan and add the 3/4 tsp lemon extract and 1 cup powdered sugar.
  • Spread over the cake.
