Ingredients

  • 1 - Cabbage
  • 6 to 8 - Green chillies
  • 3 to 4 - dry Red Chillies
  • 1/2 tsp - mustard
  • 1/2 tsp - Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tbsp - Urad Dal
  • 1/2 tsp - Channa dal
  • 1 pinch of Asafoetida
  • 1/4 tsp - Turmeric
  • Salt to taste
  • Tamarind size of golf ball
  • 3 tbsp - oil
  • How to Make Cabbage Chutney:

    1. Coarsely chop the cabbage and wash it.
    2. In a big kadai, heat oil and add the mustard, cumin, urad dal and channa dal.
    3. Fry for a few minutes or till the mustard splutters.
    4. Add hing, turmeric, dry chillies and green chillies. Fry for a minute or two.
    5. Add cabbage and fry till it is half cooked.
    6. In the meantime, soak tamarind and make a thick paste of it.
    7. In the food processor, grind the cabbage along with tamarind paste and salt.
    8. Serve it with hot rice or as a dip for bajjis.
