Ingredients

  • 1.75 cups - maida
  • 2 cups - sugar
  • 3/4 cup - cocoa powder
  • 1.50 tsp -baking powder
  • 1.50 tsp - baking soda
  • 1 tsp - salt
  • 1 cup - milk
  • 1/2 cup - vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp - vanilla extract
  • 2 -eggs
  • 1 cup - boiling water
  • Chocolate frosting:
  • 1/2 cup - butter (113 g or 1 stick)
  • 2/3 cup - cocoa powder
  • 3 cups - powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup - milk
  • 1 tsp - vanilla

How to Make Cake Marathon

  • Pre heat the oven to 350 Degree F/ 180 degree C.
  • Grease and flour two 9 inch round baking pans.
  • Mix together the dry ingredients (sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt) in a large bowl.
  • Add the liquid ingredients (eggs, milk, oil and vanilla) to it.
  • Beat on medium speed in a mixer for 2 minutes or beat well with a whisk for 5-8 minutes.
  • Stir in the boiling water. The batter will be very thin. Pour it evenly into the prepared pans.
  • Bake for 30 - 35 minutes.
  • Test with a wooden skewer. If the skewer comes out clean, the cake is done.
  • Chocolate Frosting
  • Melt butter, stir in the cocoa.
  • Add powdered sugar and milk alternatively, beating to a spreading consistency.
  • Stir in vanilla. Add more milk, in tea spoonful, if needed.
