How to Make Cauliflower Leaves Dal

  • Soak the moong dal with 2 cups of water for an hour.
  • Cook the moong dal, with the soaked water and turmeric powder, in a microwave oven, on high for 15 minutes (stir in twice).
  • Mash nicely and keep aside.
  • In another microwave safe bowl, heat enough oil for 1 minute in high. Add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, dry red chillies, asafoetida powder and curry leaves. Cook for 3 minutes in high.
  • Add the chopped onions, crushed tomatoes, salt and cook for 5 minutes in high (stir in twice).
  • Add the already chopped cauliflower leaves to the cooked vegetables and cook for 5 minutes (stir in twice).
  • Finally add the cooked and mashed dal, to the vegetables, with sambar powder, salt, slit opened green chillies. Cook again for 5 minutes.
  • Finally, add the lemon juice and give a stir.
  • Serve with rotis or rice.
