Ingredients

  • 1 - cauliflower, medium size
  • 2 tbsp - oil
  • 1 tbsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 1 tbsp -fennel seeds
  • 1 cup - onion, sliced
  • 1 or 2 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp - coriander powder
  • salt to taste

How to Make Cauliflower Poriyal

  • Cut cauliflower into pieces and soak in salted water for 10 minutes and drain.
  • Heat oil in a kadai.
  • Add mustard and fennel.
  • When they crackle add onion and fry till light brown.
  • Add cauliflower, all the powders and salt.
  • Cook covered on low flame till cauliflower gets soft.
  • The cauliflower will give out liquid. So there is no need to add water.
  • When the cauliflower is cooked, if there is still some liquid left, increase the heat and stir briskly till all the liquid is evaporated.
