Ingredients

  • 1 - cauliflower, medium size
  • 2 tbsp - oil
  • 1 tbsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 1 tbsp -fennel seeds
  • 1 cup - onion, sliced
  • 1 or 2 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp - coriander powder
  • salt to taste
  • How to Make Cauliflower Poriyal:

    1. Cut cauliflower into pieces and soak in salted water for 10 minutes and drain.
    2. Heat oil in a kadai.
    3. Add mustard and fennel.
    4. When they crackle add onion and fry till light brown.
    5. Add cauliflower, all the powders and salt.
    6. Cook covered on low flame till cauliflower gets soft.
    7. The cauliflower will give out liquid. So there is no need to add water.
    8. When the cauliflower is cooked, if there is still some liquid left, increase the heat and stir briskly till all the liquid is evaporated.
