Ingredients

  • 400g - Paneer
  • 400ml - Milk
  • 1 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 8 to 10 - Cloves
  • 1 tsp - Cinnamon powder
  • 1 tsp - Cardamom powder
  • 1 tsp - cumin powder
  • A pinch of Asafoetida (hing)
  • 2 tsp - desi Ghee
  • 10g - Cumin seeds
  • Mustard oil for deep frying
  • Salt to taste
  • How to Make Chamani Qaliya:

    1. Cut the paneer into small cubes.
    2. Heat the mustard oil in a kadai and deep fry the paneer cubes till light brown. Remove from oil.
    3. Bring water with turmeric powder and salt to a boil.
    4. Add the paneer cubes and simmer for 20 minutes.
    5. Add the cloves, cinnamon powder, cardamom powder, cumin powder, asafoetida, and milk.
    6. Cook for another 10 minutes.
    7. Just before serving, heat the desi ghee in a pan and season with cumin seeds.
    8. Pour this over the paneer.
    9. Serve hot.
