Ingredients

  • 1 cup - chana dal, washed and soaked for 1 hour
  • 1/2 cup - grated coconut
  • 1 tbsp - lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp - oil
  • 2 - green chillies, slit
  • 4-5 - curry leaves
  • 1 tsp - mustard
  • 1/2 tsp - hing powder
  • 1/4 tsp - turmeric powder
  • salt to taste

How to Make Chana Dal Chundal

  • Cook chana dal in 1.5 cups of water with salt, or pressure cook till tender. Drain the water and keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. When they splutter, add curry leaves and the green chillies.
  • Add hing powder and turmeric.
  • Add the chana dal and the coconut.
  • Cook for 3 minutes and remove from fire.
  • Add the lemon juice.
  • Serve hot with chapatis or simply have it as a snack.
