  • For Filling:
  • 1 cup - Channa dal, washed
  • 2 to 3 green chillies, crushed
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp - Ghee
  • Salt to taste
  • For Dough:
  • 2 cups - Wheat flour
  • 1 tbsp - Milk
  • Salt to taste
  • Other Ingredients: Butter or oil for shallow frying
  • How to Make Channa Dal Parathas:

    1. For Filling:
    2. Boil channa dal in plenty of water till it gets firmly cooked.
    3. Drain out all the water, pass the dal through almond crusher.
    4. Heat ghee, add chillies, dal and stir fry till all leftover moisture gets absorbed.
    5. Cool the mixture a bit.
    6. For Dough:
    7. Sieve flour and salt.
    8. Add milk, knead into a soft pliable dough, using enough water.
    9. Knead for 3-4 mins, till the dough becomes smooth and elastic.
    10. Cover it with moist cloth and keep it aside for 20 mins
    11. To Proceed:
    12. Divide dough into 8 portions and form balls of each portion.
    13. Then divide the mixture into 8 portions and form patties from each portion.
    14. Take a portion of dough and make a round shape of it.
    15. Place patties in the centre of it, fold the dough from the sides to the centre over the patties.
    16. Press gently with your palm and roll in some dry flour.
    17. Roll carefully to 7 inch wide paratha.
    18. Shallow fry on both sides, till they become crisp and gets a golden tinge.
    19. Serve hot
