Ingredients

  • Roti:
  • 2 cups - whole Wheat flour
  • 1/2 tsp - salt
  • 1 tsp - dry/ fresh Yeast
  • Luke warm water to mix
  • Filling:
  • 250 g - Kabuli chana
  • 1 cup - onion, chopped
  • 3 tbsp - Mint leaves
  • 3 tbsp - Coriander leaves
  • 2 tsp - ginger, minced
  • 2 tsp - garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp - green chillies, minced
  • 1 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1 tsp - chaat masala
  • 1 tsp - Garam Masala
  • 1 tsp - Sugar
  • Lime juice - to taste
  • 1 tsp - salt
  • How to Make Channa Katti Rolls:

    1. Roti:
    2. Mix the flour with salt.
    3. Mix yeast with 1/2 cup of warm water and keep aside till frothy.
    4. Add the yeast and water to flour and knead into a dough.
    5. Knead very well and keep covered for one hour.
    6. Divide into 8 parts and roll out into thin discs.
    7. Heat a thick griddle and place a roti on it.
    8. When the underside is half cooked, turn it over and cook the other side till tiny black spots appear on that side. Turn it over again.
    9. The roti will puff up.
    10. Cook for a few seconds and remove.
    11. Cook all the rotis and keep them in a hot case lined with kitchen paper.
    12. Note:
    13. When cooked with little oil, it takes a little longer for onions to turn brown.
    14. Use medium heat and stir often.
    15. Filling :
    16. Soak chana in water overnight.
    17. Drain and place in a pressure cooker with all the ingredients
    18. Add enough water to cover the chana.
    19. Pressure cook for 10-12 mins and keep aside for 15 mins to cool
    20. If there is excessive moisture, simmer till it is almost dry.
    21. Add more salt if needed.
    22. Add rest of the ingredients and mix well.
