Ingredients

  • 200 g - channa, soaked overnight
  • 3 to 4 - Tomatoes
  • 8 - big Onions
  • 4 - Green chillies
  • 2 inch piece - Ginger
  • 1.5 tsp - coriander powder
  • 1 tsp - Channa masala
  • For extra spice, add chilli powder
  • Cumin for garnishing
  • A small piece - Jaggery
  • 2 to 3 tsp - oil
  • Salt to taste
  • How to Make Channa Masala with Bread:

    1. Mash ginger and green chillies.
    2. Cut tomatoes and onions in to small pieces.
    3. In a pressure cooker, heat 2 to 3 tsp oil, splutter cumin
    4. Add mashed ginger and green chillies and fry for a few seconds.
    5. Add chopped onions and tomatoes and fry until the onions are tender.
    6. Add soaked channa and pour enough water so that the channa is soaked completely.
    7. Add coriander powder, salt, chilli powder and jaggery.
    8. Pressure cook for 25 mins in the cooker after 2-3 whistles.
    9. Once, cooled, add channa masala and chopped green coriander.
    10. Garnish with chopped onion and serve hot with bread.
