Ingredients

  • 200 g - channa, soaked overnight
  • 3 to 4 - Tomatoes
  • 8 - big Onions
  • 4 - Green chillies
  • 2 inch piece - Ginger
  • 1.5 tsp - coriander powder
  • 1 tsp - Channa masala
  • For extra spice, add chilli powder
  • Cumin for garnishing
  • A small piece - Jaggery
  • 2 to 3 tsp - oil
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Channa Masala with Bread

  • Mash ginger and green chillies.
  • Cut tomatoes and onions in to small pieces.
  • In a pressure cooker, heat 2 to 3 tsp oil, splutter cumin
  • Add mashed ginger and green chillies and fry for a few seconds.
  • Add chopped onions and tomatoes and fry until the onions are tender.
  • Add soaked channa and pour enough water so that the channa is soaked completely.
  • Add coriander powder, salt, chilli powder and jaggery.
  • Pressure cook for 25 mins in the cooker after 2-3 whistles.
  • Once, cooled, add channa masala and chopped green coriander.
  • Garnish with chopped onion and serve hot with bread.
