Ingredients

  • 4 - potatoes, large
  • 1 - green chilli, chopped
  • 1 tsp - garlic, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp - Mint leaves, finely chopped (optional)
  • 3 tsp - coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp - coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp - cumin powder
  • 1.5 tsp - Lemon juice
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 tbsp - oil

How to Make Chatpate Aloo

  • Peel and chop potatoes into thin pieces. Soak them in the water as soon as you chop them.
  • Heat oil in a skillet or heavy saucepan. Add chopped garlic and chilli, stir fry for half a minute.
  • Add potatoes and salt, stir fry for 5 minutes. Stir often so that potatoes are cooked evenly.
  • Add turmeric, chilli powder, coriander, cumin powder, and lemon juice and stir well.
  • Add mint and coriander leaves and stir gently. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes or till oil separates.
  • Garnish with freshly grated coconut.
  • Serve hot with puris, rotis, bread or curd rice.
