  • 1 - big chow chow
  • 3 tbsp - tur dal
  • 10 cloves - garlic
  • 2 tbsp - coconut (grated)
  • 5 - cashew nuts
  • 2 tsp - rice flour
  • 2 - red chillies
  • 1 tsp - urad dal
  • Turmeric powder, a pinch
  • Asafoetida, a pinch
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Chayote Poricha Kolambu

  • Grind coconut, cashew nuts and rice flour and keep it aside.
  • Now cook tur dal and chow chow in a pressure pan.
  • When done, add the ground mixture, salt and turmeric powder to it.
  • Now season with urad dal and red chillies.
  • Finally, add enough water and let it boil for a while.
  • Keep stirring as it boils.
  • Serve hot with steamed rice and mango pickle.
