Ingredients

  • 400 g - tinned chick peas
  • 1 - medium size onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp - grated Ginger
  • 1/4 tsp - mashed Garlic
  • 1 to 2 - Green chillies deseeded and finely chopped
  • 1/4 tsp - Turmeric
  • 2 tbsp - Ghee or vegetable oil
  • 2 - large ripened tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tsp - ground coriander
  • 1.5 tsp - Garam Masala
  • 1.5 tbsp - Lemon Juice
  • 2 tbsp - chopped coriander

How to Make

  • Drain chick peas, reserving the liquid.
  • Cook onions, ginger, garlic, chillies and turmeric in the ghee or oil until golden and softened.
  • Add the tomatoes and cook till softened.
  • Add coriander powder and chick peas. Cook for 10 mins, add 1 cup of the reserved liquid and cook a further 10 mins.
  • Add garam masala, lemon juice and stir in the chopped coriander. Cook for 2 to 3 mins adding more liquid, if needed, to make a sauce.
  • Serve with chapattis.
