Ingredients

  • 400 g - tinned chick peas
  • 1 - medium size onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp - grated Ginger
  • 1/4 tsp - mashed Garlic
  • 1 to 2 - Green chillies deseeded and finely chopped
  • 1/4 tsp - Turmeric
  • 2 tbsp - Ghee or vegetable oil
  • 2 - large ripened tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tsp - ground coriander
  • 1.5 tsp - Garam Masala
  • 1.5 tbsp - Lemon Juice
  • 2 tbsp - chopped coriander
  • How to Make Chick Pea Curry:

    1. Drain chick peas, reserving the liquid.
    2. Cook onions, ginger, garlic, chillies and turmeric in the ghee or oil until golden and softened.
    3. Add the tomatoes and cook till softened.
    4. Add coriander powder and chick peas. Cook for 10 mins, add 1 cup of the reserved liquid and cook a further 10 mins.
    5. Add garam masala, lemon juice and stir in the chopped coriander. Cook for 2 to 3 mins adding more liquid, if needed, to make a sauce.
    6. Serve with chapattis.
