Ingredients

  • Chicken - 1 Kg
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Fennel - 1 tsp
  • Fenugreek - 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves - few
  • Garlic - 1 tbsp, chopped
  • Ginger - 2 tsp, chopped
  • Onion - 1/2 cup, chopped
  • Cumin powder - 2 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 2 tsp
  • Black pepper powder - 2 tsp or to taste
  • Tomato puree - 1/2 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • How to Make Chicken Mulligatawny Curry:

    1. Clean and joint the chicken. Heat oil, add fennel and fenugreek. When they splutter, add curry leaves, garlic and ginger.
    2. Fry for 1 minute.
    3. Add onion and fry till golden brown.
    4. Add all the powders and stir well.
    5. Add tomato puree and 1 to 1.5 cup of water.
    6. Add chicken and salt.
    7. Cover and simmer till the chicken is cooked.
    8. Serve with steamed rice.
