  • 1 cup - chickpeas, soaked overnight
  • 1 sprig - Curry leaves
  • 1 tsp each - Mustard Seeds and Urad Dal
  • 2 - Red Chillies
  • a pinch of Asafoetida
  • 1 tbsp - grated Coconut
  • salt to taste
  • oil as required
  • How to Make Chickpeas Sundal:

    1. Pressure-cook the chickpeas with salt. Allow 3-4 whistles.
    2. Cool and drain the water and reserve it.
    3. Heat oil in a pan and splutter the mustard seeds. Then add the urad dal, curry leaves, red chillies and asafoetida. Saute for a minute.
    4. Add the cooked chickpeas and stir gently. Cook for 5 minutes.
    5. Add grated coconut and mix well. Serve hot.
