  • 1 pound - shrimp
  • 1 - onion, chopped
  • 1 tbsp - garlic, finely chopped
  • 5 or 6 - green chillies, chopped
  • 4 tbsp - tomato sauce or ketchup
  • 4 tbsp - Soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp - Vinegar
  • A pinch of Chinese salt
  • 2 tbsp - Vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp - Corn flour
  • 1 - egg, beaten well
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Chilli Shrimp

  • Marinate the shrimp in tomato sauce, soy sauce, vinegar, Chinese salt and salt for 1 hour.
  • Add corn flour to the beaten egg and make a fine mixture. (The mixture should not be very thick.)
  • Remove shrimps from the marinade (reserve the marinade), shake off any excess, and dip it into the corn flour mixture.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan and drop in the shrimp. Cook on medium heat till golden brown.
  • In another pan, heat some oil and saute garlic, onion and chillies.
  • Fry them till onion turns a little brown.
  • Add the shrimp and the reserved marinated, and cook for 4-5 minutes.
  • If the gravy is not enough, you can add some more tomato and soy sauce to the shrimp, but do not use water.
  • Then cook for another 5 minutes in medium heat.
  • Serve immediately with fried rice.
