  • 1 tbsp - oil
  • 1 -onion, cubed and separate each layer
  • 10- Cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 -capsicum, remove seeds and cut into cubes
  • For the sauce:
  • 1 tbsp - soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp - Oyster sauce
  • 1.5 tbsp - Red Chilli sauce
  • 1.5 tbsp - Tomato ketchup
  • 300 g - Prawns (net weight after cleaning), cleaned and deveined
  • How to Make Chinese Style Prawns:

    1. In a small bowl, mix all the sauces and keep aside.
    2. Clean and devein prawns. Wash well and drain out water thoroughly. Marinate prawns with 1/2 tsp turmeric powder and 1/2 tsp salt. Cover and keep aside for half an hour.
    3. Heat oil in a pan. Add cubed onion and fry until light pink colour.
    4. Add chopped garlic and fry till colour lightly changes.
    5. Add capsicum and fry for 2 - 3 minutes until it softens.
    6. Add sauce and mix well. Do not add water when cooking. Cover with a lid and cook on a low heat for 2 - 3 minutes.
    7. When the sauce boils nicely, add marinated prawns. Cover again, cook on a low heat for 5 - 7 minutes until done or till the prawns are well-cooked and pink in colour. Serve hot with noodles / fried rice.
