Ingredients

  • 1 cup - all-purpose flour/ Maida
  • 1/4 cup - vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup - boiling water
  • 1/2 cup - Milk
  • 1 tsp - baking soda
  • 1 tsp - baking powder
  • 1 tsp - vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup - curd/yogurt
  • 1/2 tsp - salt
  • 3 tbsp - cocoa powder
  • 1 cup - Brown sugar
  • For Butter Cream frosting:
  • 1/2 cup - unsalted Butter
  • 2/3 cup - cocoa powder
  • 2 cup - icing Sugar
  • 1/4 cup - Milk
  • 1/2 tsp - vanilla essence
  • 1/4 cup - chocolate shavings

How to Make Chocolate Cake with Butter Cream

  • Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.
  • Grease and dust an 8 inch round pan.
  • Mix together sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  • Add curd, milk, oil and vanilla to the flour mixture and beat until well incorporated.
  • Add the boiling water and beat until well combined.
  • The batter will be thin. Pour it into the greased and dusted cake pan.
  • Bake for 30 minutes.
  • Remove the cake when a tooth pick inserted comes out clean.
  • For frosting:
  • Melt butter.
  • Sift the cocoa powder into the butter and mix well.
  • Add the vanilla essence and mix well.
  • Frost the cake with this and chocolate shavings.
