How to Make Cholar Dal Curry

  • Wash the dal. Add about 2.5 cup of water, green chilli and turmeric.
  • Pressure cook for 10 minutes. Cool the cooker and open it.
  • Heat oil in a small fry pan. Add cumin seeds.
  • When they splutter, add red chilli, ginger and coconut.
  • Fry till coconut is brown. Add this seasoning to the dal.
  • Mix the dal well and add enough water to get the required consistency (like a very thick soup).
  • Add salt, sugar and cumin powder.
  • Simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  • Serve hot garnished with coriander leaves, as an accompaniment to rice or chapatti.
