Ingredients

  • For the cake:
  • 1.5 cup - all purpose flour
  • 1.5 cup - Sugar
  • 1/2 cup - cocoa
  • 1 tsp - salt
  • 1/2 cup - Butter
  • 1.5 cup - buttermilk
  • 1 tsp - vanilla essence
  • 2 - eggs
  • For the frosting:
  • 1 cup - Sugar
  • 1/2 cup - cocoa
  • 1/2 cup - Butter
  • 1/2 cup - Milk
  • 1 tbsp - Corn syrup,
  • 1.5 cup - castor Sugar
  • 1 tsp - vanilla essence.
  • How to Make Cocoa Fudge Cake:

    1. In a bowl, mix together flour, sugar, cocoa and salt. Add butter, buttermilk and vanilla essence and beat well for several mins until all the ingredients have blended well.
    2. Add the eggs. Beat well again for several mins
    3. Grease and lightly flour a baking pan and pour the mixture into it. Heat the oven to 350 degree F and bake for about 45 mins. Meanwhile prepare the quick fudge frosting.
    4. Mix both the sugars and cocoa in a saucepan and stir in butter, milk and corn syrup.
    5. Place it on medium heat and bring to a boil, stirring constantly
    6. Remove from heat and immerse the pan in cold water
    7. Add the vanilla essence and stir well.
    8. When the cake is ready cool it on a wire rack
    9. Pour the fudge frost, which should be of a fairly thick consistency, and still warm, on top of the cake. Let it run down the sides
    10. Smooth over evenly on top and around sides with a palette knife. Let set for a few mins
