Ingredients

  • 1 cup - coconut, grated
  • 5 - potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 6 - green chillies, chopped
  • 1 tsp - Cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 3 - bread slices
  • A few - Raisins
  • A few - chopped Cashew nuts
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for deep frying
  • 2 tbsp - oil, for sauteing Coconut
  • 1 - egg, beaten
  • How to Make Coconut Bondas:

    1. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan.
    2. Splutter mustard seeds and cumin seeds
    3. Add green chillies, coconut, salt, raisin and cashew nuts.
    4. Fry for 5 mins.
    5. Let the mixture cool.
    6. Dry grind the bread slices.
    7. Add salt and bread powder to the mashed potatoes.
    8. Mix well to a soft dough.
    9. Take a small portion of potato dough.
    10. Flatten on the palm and fill with coconut stuffing. Shape into a small ball
    11. Repeat with the rest of the dough and stuffing.
    12. Roll in beaten egg and deep fry in hot oil till golden brown.
    13. Serve with green chutney and tamarind chutney.
