Ingredients

  • 2 cups - of basmati rice (or any other raw rice)
  • 1 cup - ground coconut paste
  • 4 - cloves
  • 4 - cardamoms
  • 2 pieces - cinnamon
  • 2 - bay leaves
  • 4 - green chillies (slit lengthwise)
  • 1 tsp - chilli powder
  • 2 tsp - ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp - turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 tbsp - oil or ghee
  • 2 - onions (sliced finely)
  • 1 tsp - coriander powder

How to Make Coconut Pilau

  • Heat the oil or ghee in a vessel or rice cooker.
  • Add onions, bay leaves, ginger garlic paste, green chillies and whole spices, and saute for a few minutes.
  • Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, salt, washed rice, coconut paste and 4 cups of water and cook on low heat till the rice is done.
