Ingredients

  • 1 kg - chicken, jointed
  • 1 cup - onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 tbsp - oil
  • 2 tsp - chilli powder
  • 2 tsp - coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp - cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp - Lime juice
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup - grated Coconut
  • To grind:
  • 1/2 cup - coriander leaves, chopped
  • 3 cm piece - Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp - Poppy Seeds
  • 6 flakes - Garlic
  • 3 cm - Ginger
  • 4 - Cloves
  • How to Make Coorg Chicken Curry:

    1. Grind the coconut and keep aside
    2. Grind the ingredient taken for grinding into a smooth paste
    3. Heat oil in a pressure pan and saute the onion until pink
    4. Add the masala paste to it and fry well.
    5. Now add all the dry ingredients and fry for 1 min
    6. Then add the chicken and fry until a light brown.
    7. Add about 1.5 cups of water and salt to it
    8. Pressure cook this for 5 mins.
    9. Now add the coconut paste and simmer for 2-3 minutes
    10. Mix the lime juice and remove from fire
    11. Serve hot with pulao or steamed rice.
