How to Make Crab masala

  • Wash and cut the crabs thoroughly.
  • Marinate crabs in salt, turmeric powder and 1/2 tbsp red chilli powder for 15 minutes.
  • Dry roast the ingredients for grinding till you get a nice aroma.
  • You need to dry roast the coconut separately to a golden brown colour.
  • Add all the roasted spices in a blender with 3 to 4 tbsp of water and blend well to a fine paste.
  • In a wide-bottomed non-stick skillet, heat 2 tbsp oil, add the curry leaves, ginger-garlic paste and onions; saute till the onions turn light golden brown.
  • Add chopped tomatoes and cook till they turn soft, then add the spice paste, 1/2 tbsp red chilli powder, and saute well for a minute or so until the oil separates.
  • Add the crab pieces, mix well with the spices and saute for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Add a cup of water and cook on medium low heat for 5 to 6 minutes or until the crab is fully cooked.
  • Add 2 tbsp of lemon juice at the end.
  • Garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot with rice or paratha.
