Ingredients

  • 4 - large crabs
  • 2 cups - thick coconut milk
  • salt to taste
  • Ingredients to be pounded: 10 or more - dried red chillies (soaked in water)
  • 3 - lemon grass (use the white part only)
  • 1/2 tsp - fresh turmeric
  • 5 pips - garlic
  • 1.5" piece - ginger
  • 4 - large Bombay onions or 15 shallots
  • 2 cm piece - galangal (lengkuas)
  • 1/2 tsp - cumin seeds

How to Make Crab Rendang

  • Heat oil in a wok.
  • Stir-fry the pounded ingredients until fragrant.
  • Add the coconut milk and let the mixture simmer gently.
  • Add the crabs and cook until the required thickness.
