Ingredients

  • 500 g - pumpkin, peeled and cubed
  • 2 - medium-sized crabs
  • 1 tbsp - Cumin seeds
  • 1 - big piece of Ginger
  • 3 - Bay Leaves
  • 2 - green chillies, minced
  • 1 tsp each - Garam Masala and Turmeric powder
  • salt and chilli powder to taste
  • a handful of Coriander leaves
  • How to Make Crabs with Pumpkin:

    1. Boil the crabs and remove the meat from the shells. Fry to a red colour.
    2. Grind ginger and cumin seeds to a paste.
    3. Heat 4 tbsp of oil and add the bay leaves and 1/2 tsp of cumin seeds.
    4. When the seeds turn brown, add all the spices, except garam masala. Mix well, then add ginger paste, salt and the pumpkin.
    5. Cover tightly and cook without adding water until the pumpkin is almost done. Add the crab meat and continue cooking until the pumpkin is cooked.
    6. Pour 2 tbsp of oil and fry until the gravy is dry and has turned to nice brown colour.
    7. Remove from fire and sprinkle garam masala, chillies and coriander leaves on top.
