Ingredients

  • 1 heaped cup - gram flour
  • 1 tbsp - rice flour
  • 2 cucumber (grated coarsely or finely chopped)
  • 1 - onion (sliced)
  • 3 tbsp - coriander leaves (finely chopped)
  • 3 green chillies (finely chopped)
  • 1/4 tsp - carom (ajwain) seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp - sesame seeds
  • 2-3 pinches asafoetida
  • 1/4 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp - hot oil
  • 2 slices - bread
  • oil to deep fry
  • salt to taste

How to Make Cucumber Pakodas

  • Sprinkle some salt over cucumber and chopped onions. Toss and keep aside for 10 minutes to marinate.
  • Add all other ingredients except bread and oil.
  • Heat oil in a deep frying pan till smoky.
  • Moisten bread lightly and crumble into mixture.
  • Mix and drop a few dumplings in hot oil.
  • Fry on medium flame till golden and crisp.
  • Drain onto absorbent kitchen paper.
  • Repeat for remaining batter.
  • Serve hot and crisp with sauce or sweet chutney.
