Ingredients

  • Black whole masoor dal - 1 cup
  • Sambar powder - 2 tsp
  • Dry Mango powder (aamchoor) - 1 tsp or to taste
  • Jaggery powder - 2 tsp
  • Ghee or oil - 1.5 tbsp
  • Cloves - 2
  • Cinnamon - 2 pieces
  • Finely chopped Onion - 1/2 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • How to Make Curried Black Masoor:

    1. Pressure cook the dal with 1.5 cups of water for 5 minutes.
    2. Let it stand for 15 minutes.
    3. Now add the salt, amchoor, sambar powder, and jaggery.
    4. Stir until the jaggery dissolves.
    5. Now heat the oil/ ghee in a small ladle.
    6. Add the cloves and the cinnamon.
    7. Add the onion and fry until pink.
    8. Add this to the dal and mix well.
    9. Serve hot with chapati.
