Ingredients

  • 1 - small size Tamarind
  • 1 cup - Curry leaves
  • 2 - Red Chilli
  • 1 tbsp - black pepper
  • Tur dal - 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seed - 1/4 tsp
  • Fenugreek seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
  • Mustard - 1/4 tsp
  • Sesame oil - for seasoning
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • How to Make Curry Leaves Kuzhambu:

    1. Soak tamarind in hot water, extract the juice and keep aside.
    2. Keep a kadai on the stove and pour 1 tbsp of oil. Fry tur dal, red chilli, pepper, cumin seeds and curry leaves.
    3. Grind these into a paste.
    4. Now heat sesame oil in the same kadai, and splutter mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds.
    5. After that add the paste and let it fry. Then add tamarind water, salt and turmeric powder. Let it thicken.
    6. Remove from the stove and serve with hot rice and appalam
